We are based in Bellingham, WA – right in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Our 140,000 square foot facility is where the Homax® magic happens. We have an experienced team of over 100 employees who work hard to develop, test, manufacture and ship our products all over the world.
Our History
Homax® was founded by concrete contractor Lyle Oberdorfer in 1969. Lyle recognized that there was a need in the market for high-quality wall texture products that could help professionals and DIYers easily achieve any decorative look.
In the early days, Lyle worked with his wife Leona to hand package texture products in their home. As word spread about the Homax® brand, demand grew quickly. In 1977, Lyle decided to open a small production facility so he could manufacture and ship products more efficiently.
Throughout the 80s and 90s, Homax® continued to expand our product line to offer solutions for more applications. We pioneered the first aerosol texture in a can in 1984 – making texture projects even easier. In the late 90s we introduced the market-leading Homax® Drywall Texture Gun which allowed pros and DIYers to mimic any spray texture pattern.
Today, Homax® offers the most complete line of wall and ceiling textures in the industry. Our story is one of continuous innovation, commitment to quality and focus on the customer. We’re proud to have helped millions of pros and homeowners easily achieve beautiful interiors over the last 50+ years.
Our Facility
Our 140,000 square foot facility located in Bellingham, WA is specially designed to develop, test, manufacture and ship our texture products efficiently and safely.
Some key features of our facility include:
- R&D lab – We have an extensive R&D lab where our chemists analyze existing products and develop new formulas. We can quickly prototype, test and perfect products before they go to market.
- Manufacturing space – Our large manufacturing space has multiple production lines to create aerosol, bucket and bag texture products. We blend high-quality raw materials into unique texture formulations.
- Warehouse – Our sizable warehouse space allows us to safely store large quantities of raw materials and finished products. We can quickly fulfill orders and handle increased seasonal demand.
- Shipping area – We have a dedicated shipping area where finished products are packaged up and made ready for delivery across the country. Our strategic location allows us to efficiently ship west coast orders.
- Testing labs – We have advanced labs to test the quality and performance of all products. Extensive testing ensures our products go above and beyond competing brands.
- Training center – We offer hands-on training where contractors can learn tips and techniques for using our tools and applying our textures. Education is key to success.
Our made-in-USA facility gives us total control over product development, testing and manufacturing. This ensures the Homax® brand remains synonymous with quality.
Our Product Line

- Aerosol spray textures – We offer spray cans for fine orange peel, knockdown, popcorn and other popular textures. Our aerosols allow quick touch ups.
- Pre-mixed bucket textures – Our ready-to-use buckets are ideal for small projects. Just load into a hopper gun and spray on.
- Dry mix bag textures – We offer heavy-bodied and lightweight dry mix bags that can cover large areas. Simply mix with water and apply.
- Acoustic textures – We have versions of our textures formulated with sound-dampening properties to reduce echo and noise transfer.
- Water-based textures – Our water-based smoother products create subtle Venetian plaster effects. No priming needed.
- Oil-based textures – Our traditional oil-based products provide a durable and more dramatic look. Primer recommended.
- Homax® texture guns – Our texture sprayers are designed for pros but easy enough for DIY use. We offer manual hopper, electric hopper and cordless options.
- Knockdown tools – We provide knives, trowels and other specialty tools to create perfect knockdown texture patterns.
- Orange peel tools – Items like our unique Homax® Texture Comb help achieve consistent orange peel finishes.
- Popcorn tools – Our popcorn box and ceiling texture gun make it easy to replicate acoustic popcorn textures.
